About the Role
We are a group operating between Mexico and the United States. In California we run a construction and paving business with more than seven years in the market, and alongside it we run the marketing, data, finance and technology that keep it moving, along with other projects across the group. More than forty platforms in use, our own internal applications in production, and client and financial data moving between all of it.
Responsibilities
- Grant, remove and review access across every company system, with permissions assigned by role and a written record of who has what, at what level, and since when
- Build and maintain a complete inventory of every platform, account and device the group uses
- Run onboarding and offboarding so that joining takes hours, leaving takes minutes, and both leave evidence behind
- Administer company Mac and Windows devices remotely: standard configuration, disk encryption, patching, inventory and remote wipe
- Build, configure and maintain virtualized environments and virtual machines
- Install, configure and maintain servers, physical or virtual, and keep them patched, monitored and backed up
- Plan and execute migrations between platforms, providers and environments without stopping the business and without losing data
Requirements
- Proven hands-on experience in IT systems administration, owning identity and access for an entire company rather than executing tickets inside somebody else's system
- You can answer "who has access to what" with a document, because you built the document
- Strong understanding of cybersecurity principles, access control, authentication and system hardening
- Experience managing computers and devices remotely as your normal way of working
- Experience building with virtualization technologies and virtual machines, not only using them
- Experience installing and maintaining servers, and keeping them patched, monitored and backed up
- You have run a migration that could not fail, and you can tell us what you did the night before it
Nice to Have
- Experience with endpoint management, MDM, RMM or similar remote administration platforms
- Experience with cloud virtual desktops
- Containers and infrastructure defined as code
- Databases, backups, and testing that a backup actually restores
- Git workflows and repository administration
- Experience working with a team split across two countries
